Chaz Hinzman, PhD

Chaz is a Principal at Flagship Pioneering and serves as Head of Strategy and Operations for Metaphore. Chaz has extensive experience advising early-stage synthetic biology, clean tech, and healthcare companies through previous fellowships at Fifty Years Capital, a seed-stage deep tech venture firm, and Circa Health Capital Partners, a healthcare-focused private equity firm. Prior to graduate school, Chaz was a Vice President on the equity capital markets team at a boutique investment bank where he led capital raises for public and private clinical-stage life sciences companies. Chaz earned his PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Georgetown University, where he leveraged multi-omic approaches to study the role of extracellular vesicles in cancer.
