For decades, antibody drug design has relied on static protein structures, even though biology is constantly in motion. Important functional behaviors occur only in living systems, yet traditional antibody design approaches cannot capture them. Metaphore takes a different path. Our platform measures biological activity inside cells at a massive scale, allowing us to understand how proteins behave through different mechanisms that drive functional outcomes.

With these insights, Metaphore is designing antibodies with unique mechanisms of action to activate useful pathways, bias signaling toward desired activity, engage multiple targets, combine functions, or selectively antagonize with greater precision.

Founded by Flagship Labs, the innovation foundry of Flagship Pioneering, in 2021, Metaphore is building the next era of antibody medicine by expanding what antibodies can be designed to do. Our goal is to develop breakthroughs that outperform today’s drugs and improve outcomes for patients across many diseases.
